Caribbean History Revealed

Caribbean History has for many years been romanticized in Hollywood, and mainly through swash-buckling films based on pirate adventures, the most recent being ‘Pirates of the Caribbean'. In fact, there is a great deal of truth about wars between European nations on the high seas and particularly in the Caribbean.

However, there was also a much more sinister side to what went on in the Caribbean. This was especially the case where the pursuit of money, power and glory was concerned. Europe was built off the back of the Caribbean. This introduction will provide you with a basic foundation in Caribbean History.

All of the classes are highly visual two hour PowerPoint presentations with interactive exercises. It assumes no prior knowledge of the subject area, but the adult student is taken through an avalanche of information. Reading lists and also course materials are provided.
